Lessons Learned During the Pandemic: Connecting Attorneys to a Lifestyle of Health and Wellness

Time:   Noon

Speaker:   Ryan West, MS, CFI - ARCPoint Labs

Here is your last opportunity this year to secure that hard to get, illusive Competency Credit!

In March 2020, the entire U.S. population, and other countries, unknowingly entered the largest research study on the effects of isolation and chronic stress as the nation battled a viral pandemic.

While the relationship between chronic stress, substance misuse, and mental illness is well-established in scientific literature, the pandemic served as a spotlight on the devastating effects of social isolation, highlighting our need to stay “connected” emotionally, even if we couldn’t physically. It also taught us that few are immune to the effects of chronic stress AND isolation, especially attorneys, who by the nature of their jobs, were already experiencing higher rates of substance abuse, depression, and anxiety BEFORE the pandemic.

This 60-minute webinar discusses the correlation between chronic stress, substance abuse, and mental illness, details the pandemic's exacerbation effect, and offers straight-forward, proven strategies that enable a lifestyle of health and wellness.

Ryan West, Director of Corporate Training and Business Development for ARCpoint Labs.  He began working in the chemical addictions field in 2007 as a clinical evaluator, counselor, and workplace consultant for a regional drug and alcohol treatment provider in Pennsylvania.  He hold a B.A. degree in criminology and a M.A. in psychology with an industrial-organizational concentration.   Ryan is also a published author on the topic of workplace substance use and impairment.  He has spoken to many regional and stat conferences as an expert on chemical additions and co-occurring disorders.
